Alternative Photographic Supplies is a place dedicated to historical and alternative photographic processes. We publish articles based on many years of practical experience, research, artistic practice and teaching.
We are interested both in the history of photographic processes and in their contemporary use — the material nature of the photographic image, permanence and conservation, working methods, and the possibilities that historical techniques offer to photographers and artists today.
Our work combines practical darkroom experience with research, education and artistic practice.
Małgorzata Bardoń
Małgorzata Bardoń is an artist, educator, curator and practitioner of historical photographic processes. She is a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF).
She has authored and curated numerous exhibitions presented, among others, at the National Museum in Gdańsk, the Museum of Photography in Bydgoszcz, and the ZPAF Small Gallery of Photography in Toruń.
She was the curator of the international exhibitions of alternative photography Then & Now and Then & Now 2.
She is a recipient of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Marshal’s Scholarship for Artists and Cultural Creators.
Dr Radosław Brzozowski
Dr Radosław Brzozowski is an artist, researcher and educator specialising in historical photographic processes. He is the author of exhibitions created using historical techniques, as well as books, manuals and publications devoted to historical photography.
He has more than thirty years of teaching experience and is a member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF).
He received his doctorate from the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where his research focused on nineteenth-century photographic processes.
He has received funding from the National Science Centre, Poland, and has been awarded several scholarships from the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship for Artists and Cultural Creators.
